Interesting side note: The Wall Street Journal put up an article on how Haruki Murakami helped writing the first drafts of Trần Anh Hùng’s screenplay for the film. Trần:
“I was really happy because it was important for me that Murakami recognize his work in the movie. For me it’s like drawing the portrait of someone – it should look like the person.”
